How to play Minefield

  1. 1Tap or click a square to reveal it. The first square you reveal is always safe.
  2. 2A revealed number is the count of mines in the eight neighbouring squares.
  3. 3If a number reads 0, that whole area is mine-free, so you can safely sweep outward from it.
  4. 4Flag a suspected mine with right-click, long-press, or the F key. Flags are notes, not actions.
  5. 5Reveal every safe square to clear the board. The timer and flag counter are tracked per difficulty.

About Minefield

Minefield is a number-logic puzzle. Every square is either safe or holds a mine, and a revealed number tells you exactly how many mines sit in the eight squares around it. Your job is to use those numbers to work out which hidden squares are safe, without ever clicking a mine.

The first click is always safe, so a new board is never lost instantly. Flag suspected mines with right-click or long-press, and the game tracks how long you take and how many flags you place. Three difficulty settings change the grid size and mine density, from a gentle beginner board up to a demanding expert layout. Because each board is generated rather than fixed, no two sessions are the same and the puzzle stays fresh however many times you play it.

What’s included

Minefield FAQ

What is the best way to solve Minefield?
Always expand from zeros. A zero guarantees all eight neighbours are safe, and revealing them usually cascades and opens large areas that give you several numbers to reason from at once.
What does the number on a square mean in Minefield?
It is the number of mines in the eight squares touching it. So a 1 means exactly one of those neighbours is a mine.
Is Minefield the same as Minesweeper?
It uses the classic minesweeper rule set, but Minefield is an original PlayForge implementation with its own board generation and interface, not a copy of any branded version.
